NICOLAS POTEL MEURSAULT 2022 750ml

ABOUT THE WINE

Nicolas Potel is a celebrated Burgundian winemaker and négociant known for his deep respect for terroir and exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Born into a winemaking family, he learned the craft at the prestigious Domaine de la Pousse d’Or in Volnay under his father Gérard. After gaining international experience in Australia and California, he founded Maison Nicolas Potel in 1997 in Nuits-Saint-Georges following his father’s death. The house quickly earned a reputation for sourcing grapes from Burgundy’s finest vineyards, producing pure, elegant Village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru wines that highlight authentic appellation character. Though the original Maison Nicolas Potel brand was sold, Potel continued his legacy through Domaine de Bellene (biodynamic estate in Beaune) and Maison Roche de Bellene. His wines are prized worldwide for their finesse, complexity, and aging potential. Tragically, Nicolas Potel passed away in June 2025 at age 56, but his influence on Burgundy endures.
Nicolas Potel Meursault 2022 is a classic white Burgundy from the prestigious Meursault appellation in the Côte de Beaune. Meursault is renowned for its rich, opulent Chardonnay wines, often characterized by limestone-clay soils that impart minerality and excellent aging potential. Unlike neighboring Puligny-Montrachet, it rarely features Premier or Grand Crus but delivers village-level wines of exceptional quality and consistency.

TASTING NOTE:
